Atlanta, Ga. – Jan. 3, 2012 – Birch Communications, a leading IP-based telecom and managed services provider to small- and medium-sized businesses announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to buy the operating assets of AstroTel. These assets include the IP-based network spanning the Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Sarasota and Bradenton markets on Florida’s west coast.

Once completed, this transaction will mark the 14th major acquisition that Birch has completed since 2006. Birch’s strategy is to significantly increase customer density and expand the reach of its state-of-the-art private IP-Network through both “tuck-in” acquisitions and organic growth.
