BARC Connects Turns to Alianza for Cloud-based VoIP Solution

May 10, 2017 — CHARLOTTE, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Alianza Inc., the cloud voice platform company, announced today that BARC Connects, a wholly owned broadband subsidiary of Virginia-based BARC Electric Cooperative, has selected Alianza’s Cloud Voice Platform to launch a full suite of residential and commercial phone services. BARC is one of the latest electric cooperatives to better serve its members by delivering a suite of modern fiber-based broadband services.

In preparation for the systemwide fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) project, BARC Connects extensively surveyed customers and discovered that offering reliable phone service remains vitally important to its members. BARC also determined that offering phone services would add margin-rich revenue to help accelerate its ROI for fiber deployment. BARC Connects expects to launch services in the summer of 2017.

BARC Connects selected Alianza for its VoIP solution as it best aligned with the service launch plans and makes deploying phone service easy financially and operationally.

Cloud Voice Platform is a comprehensive and modern web-scale voice solution purpose-built for broadband providers; it provides every network and software function required to deliver and support VoIP-based phone services. A true cloud solution, Alianza’s solution does not require capital expenditure or the installation of complex equipment in the broadband operator’s network. Alianza’s success-based business model reduces risk and maximizes cash flow for service providers.

“Phone services are an integral part of our broadband service offering, and in our rural area, remain an impactful service to provide our members,” commented Mike Keyser, CEO of BARC Electric Cooperative. “Partnering with Alianza to deliver a full suite of voice services puts us in the best position to maximize our customers’ experience, as well as our business case for fiber broadband.”

“With this member-backed investment in fiber, BARC Connects is providing a great service to its community,” commented Justin Cooper, Alianza’s Vice President of Business. “Our solution will help them achieve financial goals and deliver excellent service to their customers.”
