AT&T launches Unlimited Day Pass for iPad users, regardless of carrier

AT&T has launched Unlimited Day Pass, a product that gives eligible iPad users in the United States access to unlimited wireless data for a flat rate of $3 per day, with no contract, subscription, or credit check required.

The new offering is notable for being open to all U.S. iPad users, regardless of their current wireless carrier. AT&T said it is the first and only major U.S. wireless broadband provider to offer on-demand connectivity of this kind, with Unlimited Day Pass available to Verizon and T-Mobile customers as well as its own.

Users can activate Unlimited Day Pass on an eSIM-enabled iPad through the device’s Settings app, with no app download or separate Wi-Fi connection requirement. The 24-hour data window begins shortly after purchase. First-time users receive one complimentary day pass as an introductory offer.

“Our goal with any product is to make it simple for people to connect wherever they are, across the devices they use most,” said AT&T Vice President of Consumer Product Management Josh Goodell in the Unlimited Day Pass announcement. “There is no long-term commitment — just the connectivity you need, when and where you need it.”

AT&T cited a 2024 customer survey it commissioned, which found many consumers own iPads that are not connected to cellular plans. The company said the product is intended as a flexible alternative for those users, particularly for travel, busy workdays, or situations where Wi-Fi is unavailable.

The company indicated that Unlimited Day Pass is designed to evolve. Future plans include expanding eligibility to other 5G-enabled devices, such as Android tablets, smartwatches, laptops, and drones, as well as adding multi-day options like weekend and week-long passes.

The announcement is the latest in a series of AT&T product moves aimed at simplifying its connectivity offerings. Earlier this month, the carrier unveiled streamlined pricing plans for its fiber home internet service, offering four speed tiers with discounts for customers who bundle broadband and mobile service.
