AT&T Customers Enjoying T-Mobile’s Satellite Offering: Report

Median download speeds for T-Mobile’s T-Satellite service operating via SpaceX showed no signs of degradation, according to Ookla’s latest Speedtest report. Interestingly, AT&T customers accounted for around a third of all T-Satellite connections during this 10-month period. T-Mobile customers accounted for roughly 60% of the connections.

The service is available to T-Mobile customers as well as customers of AT&T, Verizon, and other providers, and is available on most smartphones less than two years old, as well as some older models.

T-Satellite activity was most prominent in Los Angeles County, which features mountains, canyons, and trail systems with multiple dark spots for traditional service.

The report said Los Angeles County is also where T-Mobile deployed free T-Satellite text messaging services in the early days of 2025, amid multiple wildfires.

T-Mobile launched its T-Satellite messaging service in July 2025, with around 650 Starlink satellites. The service is now available to T-Mobile customers on the operator’s Experience Beyond plan. For other customers — including T-Mobile customers on other plans, as well as those of AT&T and Verizon — it’s available for an extra $10 per month.

Each of the big three carriers with access to the T-Mobile T-Satellite service gained a top spot in various categories of this summer’s Ookla Speedtest Connectivity Report.

For first half of the year, T-Mobile was rated as the best mobile network when all technologies are considered, and also for 5G, according to the Ookla report. T-Mobile’s median download speed was 2454.48 Mbps, while the median 5G download speed was 299.36 Mbps.

For video, Verizon took the top spot. The carrier had a combined video streaming score for all technologies of 76.53, performing even better in 5G video streaming, with a score of 82.57.

AT&T Fiber took top honors as the fastest internet service provider in the nation, with a median speed of 363.54 (download) and 296.52 (upload).
