Arizona and Indiana have provided updates on their Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Programs, and, in the case of the Hoosier State, other programs as well.
Arizona ($993 million in BEAD funding): The Round 1 Application Subgrantee Application process ran from January 6 to March 7. In all, there were 147 applications submitted by 21 broadband service providers (BSPs). They promised to bring service to 162,566 unserved and underserved locations and 7,713 Community Anchor Institutions. Round 2 applications will run from June 3 to July 3.
Telecompetitor reached out for more detail. “Once our BEAD Final Proposal is posted for public comment you will be able to see the prospective subgrantee winners and we are currently expecting to make that available around late September 2025.”
Indiana ($868 million in BEAD funding): The Indiana Broadband Office (IBO) has made preliminary awards in Round 1 of the BEAD Program. The awards will provide access to more than 90,000 locations, which the office says about 70% of the eligible locations.
The IBO said that 24 providers won awards for more than 400 projects in the round.
The projects will reach the locations with all-fiber technology. The average subsidy cost per passing will be about $3,700. Indiana has allocated 40% of its total BEAD allocation. The remaining 60% will be awarded in Round 2.
The IBO also addressed two Next Level Connections deadlines. Reporting on Round 3 and the 49 accepted Round 4 projects is due April 30.
Round 13 awards for the Indiana Connectivity Program also have been announced. The 13th round awarded $1,660,949 to provide broadband to 371 addresses across 40 counties. The office said that 353 homes and 18 businesses were among the winners.
Internet providers carrying out the projects matched $6,107,393 for a total investment of $7,768,342. Bidding phase for Round 14 is under way. The link to apply in the eCivis Portal will be live as of today — April 30, 2025.
