AccessPlus Accelerates Berkshires Push with Acquisition of Crocker Communications

An affiliate of AccessPlus will acquire Crocker Communications under a definitive agreement signed by the two companies.

AccessPlus is a regional provider that serves the Berkshires region of Massachusetts. It is a member of what it describes as the “RingSquared family of brands.” In addition to AccessPlus and RingSquared, the group includes Kall8 and Dial800.

Crocker Communications is a third-generation telecommunications provider to residences and businesses. It is based in Greenfield and Springfield, Massachusetts.

The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2024. It includes Crocker’s assets and customer base, which AccessPlus says includes about 2,000 goverment, education and residential customers.

Croker Communications will retain its band identity and Matthew Crocker will continue as its president, according to the press release.

AccessPlus says that the acquisition will bolster its presence in western Massachusetts. It notes that Croker is the exclusive ISP to Block Island, Rhode Island.

However, Sertex Broadband Solutions said in February 2023 that it had completed construction of BroadbandBI on Block Island. The company said it is the first publicly-owned, privately-operated FTTH broadband network Rhode Island.

AccessPlus serves markets across western Massachusetts, including Pittsfield, North Adams, Adams, Worcester, Lenox, Great Barrington, Springfield, Lenox, Lee, and the Capital District of New York. It says that it is launching “a rapid expansion of multi-gigabit fiber broadband services throughout the Berkshires.”

Once the deal closes, the integration of Crocker Communications’ customers will start in Pittsfield, Massachusetts and expand throughout the Berkshires.

In another move tied to its expansion, AccessPlus last month said that it will deploy Nokia’s XGS-PON platform to the Pittsfield and Berkshire areas.
