		<description>file this under pipe drem. next to maybe at&amp;t, verizon has the largest outside plant infrastructure in the country. ftth has less maintenance requirements, but they&#039;ll still need to maintain all that plant. can they cut back, sure. but &#039;elimination&#039; is a ridiculous thought. 
 
the one caveat is maybe vz outsources all of there maintenance, but someone will have to do it. </description>

		<description>He&#039;s stating the obvious.  Copper wire is a losing business proposition.  Verizon foresaw that to some degree and decided to gear up with FTTH, causing short-term expense concerns.  Now it&#039;s pretty clear it was the right course.  Seidenberg seems relieved that VZ guessed right, and can&#039;t quite believe how right the company got it.  It&#039;s a survivor for the long haul.  Not sure who else is, though.... </description>
